During the 18th ordinary session of the Town Council, which took place on 17th June 2008 our councillors passed a resolution concerning subsidizing the investment called "Construction of the Education and Recreation Centre in Wieliczka" from the means of the Fund for the Development of the Physical Culture.
The obtained financial means - 4 mln 800 thousand PLN shall allow to commence realization of the second stage of the long-awaited investment of our Municipality - construction of the Education and Recreation Centre. In the neighbourhood of the emerging sports complex a multifunctional sports field "Orlik 2012" shall be localised in the Mickiewicz Park.
The news pleased all the gathered, especially the representatives of the housing estates Przyszłość, Kościuszki and Szymanowskiego in Wieliczka. The rest of the resolutions were being passed during the duration of the session according to the accepted agenda.
During the session another resolution has been passed - concerning an exchange of real estate being property of the Wieliczka municipality for the real estate owned by the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine S.A. Thus the Wieliczka Municipality obtains a well situated square at the Jedynaka Street,on condition that it has to be used for public service solely, while the "Wieliczka" Salt Mine obtained the areas placed between the Eastern bypass and the Świdówka (Zabawka) river, which are going to be allocated to the State District Fire Birigade in order to build the headquarters.Locating the Fire Brigade headquarters outside the centre of the town is a matter of great importance and also discussed upon frequently, as it is going to accelerate the brigade's arrival at the place of the accident. The hitherto location in the direct neighbourhood of the Mine, which is the area of great concentration of the tourist movement, is especially unfavourable for undertaking quick and efficient firefighting actions.
The councillors also passed a resolution concerning "The John Paul II programme for support of talented children and youth in the area of the Wieliczka Municipality", which allows for inclusion of pupils of the First Degree Music School in Wieliczka (established in 2006) in the programme as well as for expansion of possibilities of financing the programme from the means such as donations and payments.
A special resolution has been passed whereby the Wieliczka Town Council chairman as well as the vice-chairmen appointed by the chairman shall see the clients in cases of complaints and applications in the headquarters of the Town and Municipality of Wieliczka Office at 1 Powstania Warszawskiego Street, each Tuesday from 3 to 5 PM.
Another decision has been made concerning change of the hitherto name of the street from "The Sebastian Street" to "Saint Sebastian Street".
At the end mayor of Wieliczka, Artur Kozioł, encouraged everyone to participate in the social consultations of the "Revitalisation Programme of the Town and Municipality of Wieliczka between the years 2007 and 2015". At the same time he announced that the village areas shall see the initiation of the "Leader" programme.
