The harvest holiday in Podstolice

The artistic side of the event was provided by the "Podstolice" Brass Band and the regional "Mietniowiacy" Ensemble.

The harvest holiday in Podstolice commenced with consecration of a traditional harvest wreath in the parish church.

Then an extremely fiery mini volleyball tournament for the Cup of the Mayor of Town and Municipality of Wieliczka took place where competed the teams:Podstolice Voluntary Fire Brigade, Podstolice Brass Band, The„Błękitni”Sports Club and the Wieliczka Town Councillors.

The winners were the musicians of the Podstolice Brass Band; the successive places were taken by the local firemen and the competitors of the "Błękitni" Sports Club. The cups were presented to the winner teams by the Vice-Mayor of Wieliczka Henryk Gawor and the Wieliczka Foreman Jacek Juszkiewicz. The ceremonial part of the harvest holiday in Podstolice started with the entrance of the harvest wreath after which a song and dance folk performance by the Regional "Mietniowiacy" Ensemble took place.

The artistic part of the event could not fall short of a performance by the local, extremely titled Podstolice Brass Band.

Various contests for the young and the old were taking place during the performances, including putting up the sheaves, threshing with a flail as well as art contests for the youngest ones.

At the end of the harvest festival a traditional dancing party took place, conducted by the TAKT band.

The residents of Podstolice and the neighbouring localities enjoyed themselves until late in the night.

The event was attended by over 500 persons.
