During the 56-days-long trip eight daredevils from Wieliczka covered the distance of 17500 kilometres travelling with four extraordinary Fiat 126p cars. During the expedition 4 thousand litres of petrol were used up, and our brave travellers had to change the wheels 50 times...These are some of the results of the Lajkonik Rally...

And everything strated with the meeting of a group of friends and their hunger for the discovery of new places.

Then – long preparations and in August – commencement of the trip in Wieliczka, where the travellers, accompanied by the sounds of the mine orchestra were bid farewell by the Mayor and the numerously gathered residents.
Then the trip proceeded in the direction of Ukraine.Then Russia – huge,beautiful, wild...with the great historical monuments, towns,roads and the Baikal.

Then, finally, Mongolia.The land of Tchengis-Khan, even more wild,untouched by the civilisation.

Here the rally's crew came to know the wilderness and the art of survival out in the open.

The people met during the trip, friendly and helpful supported the brave travellers, often with little disbelief.

All stages of the trip were reported by the participants of the Lajkonik Rally on Sunday, the 9^th November.They've also presented photos and films made during the trip.

There were thanks for all who helped them organize the trip and a great lot of stories they shall certainly never forget was recounted.

Before the presentation in the assembly room of the Culture and Tourism Centre in Wieliczka, at 10:00 the vice-mayor of Wieliczka, Henryk Gawor welcomed the travellers with bread and salt on the Upper Market Square.

Let's hope that the travellers shall not leave their career at that and that we are going to listen to the next lot of fascinating stories after their next trip.

The effort of the daredevils from Wieliczka has been observed by the National Geographic Magazine,which nominated the „Lajkonik Rally” to the TRAVELERY 2008 award in the categrory „Trip of the Year”.
